So after my first scooter ride 5 months ago there have been many many more. Strapping on a helmet and climbing on the back of a scooter is second nature now. However sitting on the front of a scooter is not. I’ve always left the scooter driving to the experts. It looked so easy, so graceful, but with the insane traffic here, and the disregard for traffic laws, lanes, and red lights all kept me from taking the wheel….or rather the handlebars.

However the other night my friend, Bread, offered to teach me. Reluctantly I agreed. It would be cool to learn. Why not.
Empty parking lot in Dazhi Park. I make one whole circle before trying to stop and the scooter fell over….they are alot heavier than I realized. That was it for my scooter driving adventures. It was a bit harder than it looked and more scary than a car because theres nothing between you and the pavement. Maybe scooter driving isn’t in my future, but at least I got to try. I’ll stick to riding on the back.
I got one thing from this post. You have a friend named Bread?
haha yep. I’ve heard more bizarre than this…his is a nickname. Nothing like someone greeting you with a straight face and saying “hello, my name is Eleven”.
note: letting people pick their own english names is either endlessly creative or mind numbingly boring…the amount of johns, cindys, and thomas’s I know here is staggering.
Also have a friend named Carvel….yes like the fudgie the whale cakes.
